This could be down to several reasons. First of all is it a bubble jet printing unit or is it a laser and toner type? If its bubble jet it is probably a blocked head.
If it is a toner unit it could be the drum or the fuser rollers worn out. In some models the changable print cartrige also includes the drum unit.
It is also possible it could be dirt in the scanner. This would cause lines on coppies and scans but prints from PC would be ok.
