Like somebody elses Citroen Xsara on this website the HEATER BLOWER in my Xsara 1.4 LX will not turn OFF either and is permanently stuck on 50% power. Somebody said that the fault is caused by the Transister Pack on the blower motor, but does anybody know where is the blower motor located because I can't find it!! If anybody has a page from a Haynes Manual they could scan and e-mail me that would be very useful and much appreciated.
i have changed the resistor twice and they both are brand new. bought them from a supplier in the UK.
with the old/original one the blower stays on full blast but when i change the resistor to the new one theres no air at all so i complained to the supplier and he sent me a new 1 and it still didnt work.
im guessing that its dodgy resistor or its for a dif model.
any1 with any ideas would be greatfull.
thank u

Nimmy Shah, April 2011
I've changed the two transistors, but the blower doesn't recieve signal for the transistors. Do you have any ideea where the signal comes from, and through what wire from the four ones?

hi i have fixed my heater blower problem on sat on my xsara estate hdi bit fiddly but did it ,got another unit from scrap yard blower working now but now my heater is on hot and wont reduce to cool :-( can anyone help me as to what this problem may be thanks in advance tracey

found this on another site hope it helps --------------
Fixed it at last!!!!
It was the blower fan controller. This is a unit about the size of a
cigarette packet and is found in the driver's footwell on the left, fairly
high up. Thanks to Paul at the Citroen Centre for telling me this.
Taking the unit out is awkward but not impossible. There are two sockets,
coloured green. One has a pair of thick wires (presumably power out to the
heater fan motor), the other has two thick and four thin wires, I guess that
this is power in and the vanbus multiplex control in and out. You need a 6mm
socket but I would recomment using a magnetic one in case you drop the
fixing self tappers behind the carpet.
Most of the bulk of the unit is a large aluminium heatsink There is a power
transistor inside the unit but I marmalised it trying to unsolder it. The
heatsink clearly seems to work when a soldering iron is used.
Having marmalised it, I had to buy a new unit. Much ferreting and phoning
around and I found that it is Valeo part number 509355 or Citroen part
number 6441L2.
I would recommend Neil Goodall at Vantage Citroen parts 0208 544 9997. He
keeps most Citroen bits. Cost is less than 40 squids plus the dreaded VAT.
Hope this helps all the other people who have reported thae same fault. It
is probably no more than a ten minute job to change the unit for a new one.

Hi All, I had the same problem on the latest model of Xsara exclusive. I followed the advice of Blower post and fixed this by changing the 2 darlington pair transistors in the blower speed regulator.

Hi All, I fixed this on my Xsara by changing the 2 darlington pair transistors in the blower speed regulator, cost about £10 all up... required a drill, some electronics knowledge and a couple of hours...
Blower, February 2009
it was the thermal fuse/resistor with me, 1998 xsara.. take out the glovebox, 3 screws at the top, 3 screws under the carpet inside the glovebox...
when thats out youll see the resistor pack, its a round plastic part that is screwed into the air duct in front of the pollen filter. (has a wiring connector clipped into it.) on the 1998 xsara this is not on the blower itself but a seperate part!
when you get the plastic part out look at it, it has a little resistor clipped into it on the far side.. take out this resistor and bring it into maplin or another electronics store. they should be able to provide you with the replacement resistor for a couple of quid.

Hi, I have the same problem, you need to remove the compartment which is under the passenger air bag, there you see the sylinder insid it is the motor blower, to remove it you need to go underneath the compartment, where the passenger put his feet, remove the cover you see the plague which is coming from the switch to the motor, the motor has three nuts, you remove them and a little tube, here the motor should come off, I hope you find it helpful
