washer is tripping?

hi there, am having a problem with my washing machine which is a hotpoint wm83. when i switch it on it trips the rest of the plug sockets in the house which is quiet frustrating. i have also 4 teenage daughters inmy house and they are driving me mental due to the fact they cant wash there cloths 24/7. if anyone can help me sort out the washer before i end up in the nut house, it would be most appreciated.

hi john, thanks for the response. i've had a word with an engineer and he thinks it could be the door switch. so i had a look and i found that the rubber seal has a hole in it right next to the door switch. now the door switch will cost me about twenty pounds but how do i go about repairing the tear in the rubber seal. is there anything on the market that i can buy and seal it myself or does it need a complete refit?
once again thanks for any input.

sounds like you've got a dead short in the circuit somewhere, you'd need a meter to test properly where the short was coming from, i reccomend you get a a qualified engineer to diagnose the fault, as it could be any number of things wrong.
