central locking peugeot 406?

central locking system does not work on my peugeot 406,the battery has been changed in the key but the system can only be worked by manually locking the doors.

Put your key in the ignition. Turn key to at least position 2 (battery symbol on in instrument pack). Press the big button on the key twice. Turn ignition off. Key should now have re-programmed itself and central locking should work again
