LG GR359SQ Freezer Leaking?

Hi,

I have discovered that the heating element in the drip tray is not working. (It is buried in a block of ice)

Could someone please point me in the right direction for a spare part (reasonably priced) and also a service manual for the product?

Many thanks in adavnce

There is supposed to be an element that melts this water and then it runs into the drip try under the unit. If the ice is building up the element is not in the correct place. Has the unit been moved recently.

Inside the freezer, the back comes off and then I am stuck. I have had LG repair this once before and can't remember how to get the next bit off inside the unit to refit the element....

Any advice?

"it may be that the drain hole has simply choked.."

I have the same model, and possibly the same problem ... though the ice is accumulating on the floor of the freezer rather than in a drip tray. Occasionally, the ice melts (and rolls out on to the floor) so I'd imagine the heater probably *is* working.

But I looked, and couldn't find any signs of a drain hole. So to Greg: Any clues where the drain hole should be ???

try defrosting it 1st, it may be that the drain hole has simply choked..
best way to defrost....steam cleaner or hairdryer...
