Whirlpool Washer Dryer Won't Fill?

Hi

I have a whirlpool washer dryer AWZ412 (a couple of years old). It has only been used about five times. The washer has both a hot and cold inlet valve, but I only have a cold feed. I did have that plumbed up only to the cold inlet but I have been told I need to put a Y connector on so that the hot valve is also connected.

The problem is that now the washing machine doesn't fill with water at all. The programme knob goes through the programme as if it thinks there is water in the machine. Also, the detergent drawer seems to be locked - it will only open about an inch.

To further complicate the issue the washing machine is abroad. Repairs would really have to be carried out by myself so I hope someone can help before I go out there again.

Thanks!

hi theres a few things u can try. but always remember when ever taking anything apart yourself always make a note of were parts and screws go. when the washer starts can you here any water coming into the machine. if there is a block in the pluming on top of your powder tray, you will have to take the washer lid off, check the pipes going into the drawer for blockage. also when u open the drawer put your hand inside and feel for a blockage. also feel for a catch this will release the drawer and it will then come totally out. normaly when the drawer is blocked there will be a leak somewere either from the tray or undernieth the washer. if theres no water coming into the machine then first u must check the tap for the water supply its an easy mistake to make to forget to turn it on, also one of the hot or cold valve's might be blown. or damaged. the best way to check an electricle component is with a multimetere. gd luck and only carry out work on an electricle appliance if you feel competent to do so,
