I have had the same prob and after many days of research on the pc this seems to be the answer
1 if you have normal size wash load take out half
2 turn dial to sun setting
3 engage half load botton
it worked for me

Hi my 8702 washer/dryer has 2 whole sun settings for drying, no half sun, does anyone know how to dry on low heat

Good Morning , I have a diplomat washer dryer apm 8702, electric model 546060/200 , which has been use once weekly for six months , my flat was empty for eight months and my local repair man tells me the controls have gone and need replacing . I have 30 properties and the controls have never broken down in the first year of the washing machine . can you please tell me the cost to repair it ? Thanks

For ours, you set it on the full sun dial, press half load and it starts the dryer for a full load. If you set it on the half sun, it dries at half the heat.

Can anyone shed any light on this? My wife and I have just moved into a rented property and can't get the dryer to work. Can anyone let me know what setting you need to put it on, as we have tried putting it on the little sun thing on the dial and it's not working.

Found the answer! I have just rang MFI service desk on 08457 959722 who have the manual in stock, it's 8 quid including postage, but didn't think that was bad!

Hiya,
I've got a Diplomat 8702 and I've just found that the dryer only works with half loads. Make sure you've got no more than 3kg of washing in it, press the Half Load button and it should work fine.
