fabric not feeding?

I have just "inherited" my mother's singer touchtronic 2001. It does not feed the fabric and I have checked the stitch length, the presser foot #, but neither helps. Is there an adjustment for the feeder? A If so, where and how?

Hello Vicky,
You should always start a very short distance in, reverse then carry on stitching forward.

Did ALL of that.....I am wondering if it is because I started sewing on the fabric and not at the edge of the fabric. Would that make any difference?

Hello Vicki,
If you have checked the stitch length, if you have checked that there is enough pressure on the foot and they are both okay then look at the teeth to see if they are coming up above the slots in the throat plate, if they are not, check and make sure the throat plate is on properly, if that is okay then check to make sure you have not put the drop feed down.
