nissan micra new shape - how to remove dashboard in order to replace spedo?
How to remove dashboard of Nissan Micra?
Bought a new nissan micra 03. Dashboard light showing indicator is on stopped working. Not bulb or fuse. Therefore have to replace entire combination metre - that is the circuit board behind the dials and warning lights on the dash. Obviously a manufacturing fault - not a fault in any way caused by our use of the car. Have been advised by car experts that such a component should be good for the life of the car; leave alone 4 years in which time it has only been driven 20,000 miles. Nissan have refused to help. The quotation which they have given for replacing this circuit board is £620; only £40 of which is labour cost. They appear to me to be drastically over-charging and I feel abused by them. I bought the car new for the very reason that maintenance costs for a few years, at least, ought to be low. Now I have bought second hand circuit board from a breakers yard. But am having a few difficulties in removing the dash trim which surrounds the case for the dials and lights. The part immediately below the windscreen comes away easily. There are certain screws which are then exposed for the remainder of the dash trim. I undid those, but it still does not come away. I am worried about damaging surfaces etc as I lever with screw driver. Anyone know the right procedure?
