how can i fix my gas cooker stoves 900gtf?

the ignitor on both the grill and oven keeps sparking after the grill or oven are lit
steven nurton, March 2005
Hi, I've got the double oven 900gft and I'm having problems lighting the oven and the grill. When I turn the oven or the grill on, the fan kicks in for a second and then stops and the ignition continues clicking but the oven or grill doesn't light. Does any one know what the problem could be and who can i get to fix it?
Thanks

Sadly all too famliar our engineer is a reqular visitor to the house and our Stoves oven is by far the worst thing we have ever brought. Since 2004 we have had multiple back plates / circuit boards etc only the insurance has kept it going!

Never ever will I buy Stoves again

we have just moved into our new home and have had the same problem with the ignitor. There was also a strong smell of gas. The carbon monoxide alarm then also started to go off and when the gas safe engineer came out he has condemned the cooker due to the fault with the fan and ignitor and the ventilation. Be warned if you have one of these then invest in a carbon monoxide detector - it could save your life!

I know that a guy was hired by Stoves to source the cheapest electronic components in the world and saved them a shed load of money. So why did I buy this scouse pile of crap???

My findings are the same as Grant's. You will be needing repairs at least annually. I think they allow a service contract to be taken out even if there's a present fault...

Does somebody know how to get a manual for this oven, please? We has just moved to a new house where we have one of this but with no manual...

Thanks

Hello,

We have had one of these ovens for about 10 years and have had the same fault. Not once, not twice.......... not, oh bugger it I forget how many time we have had engineers out to put it right. At least once every 12 - 18 months. Apparantly it is caused by; not enought air getting into the oven, too much air getting into the oven, the thermo cupling, the circuit board, the thermo cupling agian, a perished wire................bored now. After 5 call outs in 1 month this year, and the ignition still ticking, it was deemed uneconomical to repair any more. Thank god we had insurance, but there is another story there! We are now buying an electric oven!

I hope you don't have the same problems we have had.

Regards
Grant

P.S. When the 900gtf is working it is a great oven.

Hello we have the same unit, can you help us? We need a copy of the manual. It sounds like the thermocouple may have failed on yours because it doesnt know the flame has lit. But with it being common to both ovens, a common fault is more likely on the circuit board.

If you can help, email sigma_protocol@hotmail.com
