my corsa 1.2 with a tiptronic gear box has just broke down?

my car halted abruptly yesterday with a F in the lcd could this be exspencive to fix. It is a 2001 model its been great had it for a year no trouble.
carol skillen, July 2007
Hi
this kind of robotic gear is actually a manual gear with motors and ecu to control it.
remove the selector motors, put in 1st gear, start the car in 1st gear and drive home.
It must be the motors brushes that makes it not responding to commands.
I bet the garage just overhaul the motors or install new ones but charges for an ecu......

Hi every one on the Shifter there is a 12 pin connector , can any one please tell me what is the voltage on pin 5 of the connector ? This pin may not have a cable on it but its internally connected , to the board , i think that there is a component inside that is common to fail , a diode . Thganks

I have this problem in Ceara F character appears Ceara does not work do I. Beyond Cable Boutra the 10-minute work Ceara

Younus, June 2013
well it was the clutch acutator it has been repaired and refitted by local garage total price £275 inc vat..they fitted and made it work without sending it to vauxhall so very happy as drives like a dream now! so no £900 as expected from vauxhall!

hadji diouf, March 2013
mine has just done the same. F display car stuck in gear took to garage they have sent acutator to ecu for testing as they have found faults with the unit.. will see what happens when they return it

hadji diouf, February 2013
just got corsa 1.2 managed to drive it three miles from dealers and stoped never to go agane. got rac man to have look and tow me home and thare it stands a rather expensive heap of scrap metal.apparently coman prob with this car.

fish, February 2013
hello my tiptronic car starts. engine runs fine however i got the flashing F on my vauxhall corsa and the car will not select a gear. It is a vauxhall corsa sxi 2001

Richie, September 2012
my 1.2 corsa does not start, shows F,you cam turn the screwon the ECU anticlockwise to make it go to N,but this is only a temp measure.

the isue is really the ECU unit. it does not have to cost 800pounds either, it can be taken to ecu testing for remanifacture and this will only cost 145

sacha, August 2012
anythink would be helpful

bigdave, March 2012
hi anyone that can share some info on tiptronic gearboxes 1.2 corsa 2001 reg still starts nicly evryday neva fails but seems to be bit gittery when reachn secnd to third gear rather strange just takes its time to change ova revs could do with some ideal prices ta peeps

bigdave, March 2012
as a reply to andy you are wrong. easytronic boxes find any fault the will lock the starting circuit and prevent the car from starting just incase it's still in gear

al, February 2012
Hi if you own a corsa with tiptronic gearbox and it`s not starting and showing F in lcd display then you need to fit a new crank sensor, the gearbox ecu will NOT prevent your car from starting, this is what a lot of people think but a non starting corsa is not due to easytronic ecu.

Andy, October 2011
mine broke too adjusting the screw on top of the actuator with the ignition on will eventually put a N bank on the dash but not for long, but will get you home,

juels, August 2011
i had the same problem wit mine i was pushing it over to far into where A/m was stopped doin that and didnt cut out again but at 77,000miles the gear box broke its a common problem with corsas i never had any other problems with it

hazel, April 2011
I have the same problem. My wife tried setting off at junction and it just cut out on her 1.2 SXi Tiptronic, F appeared. Took it to Vauxhall. They said the battery was flat, charged it over night and it worked perfectly with no faults appearing on their computer. Drove away and 30mins later brake down again with the same problem. Tried charging battery myself to get it home next day and nothing. F still appears and it is still immobilised. What could be the problem?

Nick, April 2011
i have the same problem i think its tdc sensor or the etc motors and there is three of them 2 at the top for selecting the gears and a bottom one for the clutch system i hope this helps i do have second hand parts at my garage text me 07565123828

garage 247, September 2010
hello mr e i just read your comment and i seem to have the same problem with my car and its in the garage now. Did you get it fixed and how much was it?

Louise, September 2010
As mr J fort said - it's either one of the gear selector motor or shift
motor or it's the control unit (ECU). Motors are cheaper than the ECU.
You can get your ECU reconditioned and may be able to find used motors.
I have changed both, so get back to me if you need help.

Ace, July 2010
the possible fault could be ..the gear seleector motor on rhe gearbox top (of which there are 2 motors ) has a bearing or motor fault causing the motor to jam in gear...this causes the actuator to report an F fault and stop the gearbox from moving...it is possible that it may be caused by s`thing else but ...i`ve peraired 3 corsa`s sofar with this problem.your vauxhall dealer maybe able to tell more but its very expensive from now on...

Mr j fort, May 2010
hi i had the same problem on my corsa just after i brought it, luckly enough my mech found out that it had got the wrong spark plugs in and it cured the problem i couldnt beleive this could affect the gearbox

rushy, March 2010

Peter, December 2009
hi,my corsa had the dreaded f on the dashboard after getting the car recovered the nice man told me that it was the crank position sensor (code po335 came up on his hand held computer) common problem after searching on the internet found a price £13.71 for the sensor and it is quite easy to change yourself. (1 bolt involved).....hope this helps ppl....

steavep7, December 2009
i had same problem on my 2003 corsa, engine cut out and F was displayed on dash, turned out to be exhaust sensor and only cost me £70...

My Corsa 2001 easytronic had the same problem flashes F gearbox replaced still had same problem wouldnt start
Quick shift Gear-selector motor replaced still same problem

lose lose situation but still have a spare gearbox and quickshift motor

Mike, April 2008
The same problem with my 2001 reg. It is a small motor that is linked upto the gearbox that selects the gears for the car. I had the brushings replaced in the motor for 60 euro but they only lasted 3 months. It's gone again now so I'm looking for a second hand motor for it.Hope this helps ye.

Vinnie Ireland, February 2008
i have the same problem now..... with the (f) on the dashboard.. i have been told its the gear selector, nothing is actually wrong with the gear.. appareantly the part costs about £149+vat +labour :)........ this part is supposedto be located nest to the gears and is separete from the gear, it just tells the on boad computer what gear to select

CURSED CORSA, February 2008
Hi, did you get your car fixed. I have what appears to be the same problem with my easytronic corsa

Mr E, October 2007
Hi, did you get your car fixed. I have what appears to be the same problem with my easytronic corsa

Mr E, October 2007
I have had similar fault yesterday, but display read dash (--) sign and could not get car to start. This is due to ECU module on the gearbox cannot detrmine which gear the car is in. So it puts it in safe mode and does not let you start the car. I have the car at the dealers today being sorted. Will post more info when I get the car back.

Arvind, August 2007
I have had exactly the same problem as you with the same year of car.... is this a common problem perhaps???

Please anyone who knows the answer to this - please enlighten us!!!
