I cant see the mileage on my Renault Megane Scenic. Is it a bulb?

I am unable to see the mileage on my 1997 Renault Megane Scenic. If I really strain my eyes, I can just see it, although it is very very feint. It does not become any clearer at night, or when I switch the lights on. What can it be?

sounds like its the bulb-u need to remove your speaker covers and then you will see two screws that secure the dash, then its three easy screws on the speedo head- hope this helps you.
