how to remove rear brake drums?

rear brake drum removal on ford ka
terence page, July 2007
1) Remove wheel cover and loosen wheel nuts. (Chock front wheels first.)
2) Jack up rear of car and support on axle stands.
3) Remove wheel to expose drum.
4) Prise out grease cover from centre exposing 30mm nut enclosed in locking cage.
5) Remove nut, placing 30 mm socket over locking cage - very tight!
6) Release handbrake and carefully draw off drum. Be careful as you are also removing the outer bearing which may fall out of the centre of the hub and onto the mucky floor!
7) Reverse instructions to replace. I have a feeling that the nuts are single use only (available from Ford) but I'm not sure of this. I also don't know the correct torque to set them at exept 'tight'!
This was how I removed the drums on my 02 Ka. Earlier / later models may be different.
