ignition module location ford escort 94. 1.3efi?

I have a ford escort 94 1.3 which a strange problem the ignition module doesn't allways accept the key chip code and when it cuts out you have to leave it for several hours, the module is not in the usual place infact i couldnt find it at all which makes me think that its in the ecu. but i think that it cant be because if i disconnect the ecu it still has the same problem it sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. there is a little light next to the clock on the dash which flashes when the key hasn't been recognised and stays on when it works but sometimes when the ignition isnt on the light flashes speratically and not to full brightness i'm baffled can someone help

you fault isnt the ignition module its a pats (imobiliser)problem and if the light shines dim sounds like a short in the wiring.check 4 in the fuse box and ecu first.
