How do I fix my Kenmore Whispertone Model 116?

How do I take apart my Kenmore Whispertone Model 116? The retractable cord is stuck in so I can't pull it out. I've been using an extension cord so I can clean the house.

You can dismantle it. There are screws that let you open the various components. You might be able to retrieve the power plug from the inside.
