Modern batteries tend to fail almost instantaneously. That is say one day they work and the next day they don't. (Rather than deteriorate in performance over a perios of time.) Not using a modern battery lowers its life expectancy. You could take the battery out and charge it up. If it still fails to start the car or does not retain its charge I am afraid that the fix is buy a new one.
