d4c rainbow vacuum, not running after cord change?

I changed the cord on my d4c rainbow vacuum, I had to use a safety pen to get the old wires loose from the switch to insert the new ones. My vacuum ran fine before I changed the cord, just that the cord was unsafe due to exposed wires taped over. Now my vacuum won't run. Do I need to change the switch??? did I do something wrong?? is there a reset button???

any help would be greatly apprecaiated!!!

The switches that have the spring catches in them are very sensitive to larger that what is called for items inserted into them to remove the cord. You may have damaged the switch. Call us and we can walk you through on how to make sure.

Would've been easier to just splice the new cord wires inside the D4C housing to the old cord wires coming from the switch (since that part of the old cord was not frayed) . . . but, now that you did what you did already, did you strip away enough wire insulation on the ends of the new cord strands to make good electrical contact inside of the switch?
