How can I get my zafira started after running out of deisel?

I have put some deisel in my 2004 Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 tdi, after running out on my way into work this morning, I went to bleed it when it would not start, There were no obivious bleed screws or lift pump, I contacted my local dealer, they told me it was a specialist job and would need to be taken in and they would use their electric pump to bleed the system. Is all this neccessary or can I bleed the system myself?

had the same problem 3 weeks ago, after waiting 3hrs for the AA to turn up, the patrolman told me they are self bleeding, all he did was attached his booster cables to my battery, and kept turning the engine over untill it started.

Easiest and quickest way is to remove and fill fuel filter with clean diesel, then loosen a couple of injectors and crank until diesel is pumped through these (beware of killing battery). Then replace them, and start engine. Might run on two for a few seconds, but should then self bleed. If it's a company car, I would grit your teeth and confess. Or say the gauge was reading a quarter full - you might get away with it in a Vauxhall.
