My Peugeot 306 diesel will not start normally, howhever I can hotwire the starter motor ignition switch feed and it will start ok?

Me and my mrs both have earlier peugeot diesel's mines a G reg 205 my wife has got an M reg 306. Both cars have suffered from the lazy starter syndrome, if you check your wiring diagram in the manual, you will find there is no starter relay (PROBLEM). You need to fit a 30amp Halfords relay with the feed from the start side of the ignition switch acting as the trigger on the relay, earth to earth, draw a fresh live from the battery attach to one of the contact terminals on the relay, the remaining relay terminal gets wired to the starter motor with a crimp, this will take the excessive load away from the ignition switch which seems to struggle after a while with heavy loads. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL WORK AND AM ASSUMING THERE IS NO FAULT ON THE STARTER ITSELF. This has worked on four different peugeot diesels and continues to work today.
Good Luck
