My kitchen door hinge has come out of the main frame as the holes for the screws have erroded and the hole is huge. How would I be able to screw it back in to hold the door in place to be in line with the other cupboard door. The cupboard doors are made of that compressed wood which i think it has venir covering. Not sure as I really have no clue with home repair. Single mom needing help with not much money ;o(

You can get a hinge repair kit consisting of a plate that you screw over the afected area and your old hinge screws into the plate availabe on e bay serch for hinge repair plate approx £2.50 + pp

I have used Elmers wood glue. I filled the hole with this glue, put the screw back into the hole. I usually place a chair against it to hold it in place. I keep it there until it dries thoroughly. It usually works for me. I live with my sister and 3 children and no men around to help us out.

perhaps you could use some wood filler in the hole, there are a few different makes but ought to have the filler and hardener, you mix it with hardener and then apply it to the hole, then you make sure it is thoroughly dry before considering screwing back into it, i hope this is of some help, i am a child of a single mum and have had to do so much stuff helping her as she has spine injury, we have fixed loads of things hehe..

fill in the hole,by sticking a wooden match or a wooden tooth pick in it. make sure its flush with cabinet face,and try screws again.
