I have a kenmore 4.1 vacuum cleaner. The power cord no longer retracts. the button pressed to retract it, can only bring the cord back in up to a certain point which leaves like a foot of the cord still hanging out. I would like to know how I can fix this. I tried to push the cord back in, but after that same point, it will no longer go in. It is as if the wheel inside will not turn or something. I want to fix it so the button will retract the cord completely. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Send us an e-mail with the model number. Then I can tell you how to take the can. apart. Basically it involves getting some oil to the spring and winding the retracter once or twice extra. This makes up for the spring stretching over time.
