Hotpoint WF 240, staying on wash costantly?

My Hotpoint WF240 gets half way through a wash (on most wash cycles to start with, but all now) and sticks on it. Washing constantly until i stop it, select empty then select rinse and spin manually. Its filling with water ok so i'm thinking it could be the 'motherboard' or whatever its called.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice Phil, could you tell me if they are easy to fit as i consider myself to be quite mechanically minded. And if you know roughly how much they are.
