Rover 214 1995 - alarm/immobiliser malfunction after car battery went flat?

I have the key access code - is there a process to reinstall the code without visiting a rover dealer?

turn it off and back on again.

I worked this successful process out from other internet Q&As -The Key Access Code is essential. I found mine on a card stapled to the car's service record.
1 - Disconnect the car battery
2 - Insert the ignition key in the drivers door lock and turn it to the right and hold for five seconds.
3 - return the key to the upright position in the drivers door.
4 - turn the key the key to the left as many times as the first number in the key access code sequence, then to the right as many time as the second number, then the left and right again, using the door lock like a combination lock.
5 - wait a few seconds
6 - press the remote switch to find out whether you have been siccessful.
7 - If it has worked you can now reconnect the car battery.
