how can i fix my seat alhambra starter motor solenoid?

i have a seat alhambra 1.9t deisel. the starter motor solenoid is dodgy. do i need to replace the whole starter motor or can i just change the solenoid?

i have a petrol seat, and this week my starter motor went and my husband replaced it (not a mechanic) what a nightmare!! as far as i know u have to replace the full thing.
replaced but car still wont start!
