craftsman riding lawnmower will not move?

After taking off and on rear tire, craftsman riding lawnmower will not move forward or reverse at all. What could be wrong?
It was moving great before flat tire and we had to take tire off to have fixed.

My 10 horsepower craftsman 30 inch riding mower stop moving..I did have the tire off to fix a flat....then I started mowing worked great....then it stopped moving.....took the tires off to check the key....but the key doesn't look long enough..what is the average size.....could it have shrewd some of it off....need help with this

WOOHOO Thank you bg!!!!!! We had the Murray with the same problem, I saw your answer here and my husband looked around the area he changed the tire and found the KEY!!!!! He put it on and VIOLA!!!!! it moves! Thank YOU ever so much!!!!!! Hope you see this!

My RanchKing riding lawnmower runs but will not move. Looks like there is a spring loose near shift mechanism but cannot see where to attach.

did you make sure the slotted key went back in axle for drive wheel .....
when taking tire or rim off you disengaged axle from trans gears ....>>>>???????

I just posted a question about my Murray rear engine 12HP stuck in neutral....but now that I see your question, this is EXACTLY what happened to us....repaired back tire, put it back, turned motor on and it wouldn't go into gear.....anybody???? any ideas????
