My thread is wrapping around the top of the bobbin shuttle?

I have an older Kenmore - about 20 yrs- and am having a problem with the needle thread looping around the top of the bobbin shuttle. My bobbin shuttle, holder and bobbin are all in correctly. The needle is not hitting and the process seems to be 'normal'. Nothing seems off until I actually thread the needle and start to sew. I get one or two rotations as it wraps itself at the top and that's it. Anyone got an idea what I am doing wrong?

Hello Caroline,
If you are absolutely sure that you have the bobbin in the bobbin case the correct way round, and if you are sure you have the needle in the correct way round, just make sure that you have the machine threaded correctly and the thread has gone through the tension discs, very common fault that one, make sure you have the top tension set properly usually between 4 or 5, if you have checked all of this the machine should sew perfectly, if it is not sewing perfectly let me know, e-mail me.
