Tricity bendix dishwasher dh 086 sticking in certian places on wash cycle?

hi
my dishwasher gets to certian parts of various wash cycles and then it just seems to halt, it looks like the wash program dial gets stuck. anyone had similar problems??

My dh086 is stopping after a few minutes where you'd expect the water to to start - it just stops! The inside is dry. I have cleaned all the parts I can access and under the Dome but still nothing!

Rhys, May 2014
Had same prob with stopping so tried the dome and blue pipe trick... Man that is foul under there... Can't believe I was washing my dishes in that sh#t and the smell had me gagging but cleaned all bits out and now running a cycle and so far so good. Has got much further then it ever did before. Have noticed the sound of the machine sounds much better as if it wasn't struggling. Maybe this time it will clean the dishes better than ever before. Try this method before rushing out and splashing cash on new one. Happy dayz

Emptied out blue pipes, no change to sticking but did have some gunc in there. Tried and tried again still nothing. Took water pipe off the back then reconnected and tried again, blast from water pressure seemed to do the trick (girlfriend also walked in after 2 hrs of working on the machine. She claimed it was her presence!!)

Had similar problem with a Tricity Bendix TBDW41.

Kept tripping the mains out when it had reached the heating part of the cycle and machine was full of water every time.

I emptied the waste water pipe, cleaned the U-bend that was full of brown gunge, re-assembled, put soda crystals down the waste pipe and several litres of boiling water.

Put the machine onto a Quick 65deg wash, and it seems ok now, fingers crossed. Wife is happy, I am happy.

I have had endless problems with my Tricity Bendix DH086, it stopped working before Christmas AGAIN so I took all the bits and pieces out inside and cleaned them! But never got it put back together before Xmas dinner. Then went away for New Year and now I can't remember where all the pipe things go HELP. Am a pretty handy mum but this is frustrating me now.

i just had british gas to repair mine, he did alot of cleaning but the main problem is the thing filling with water as not filling so the machine will stop as no enough water, he replaced it and working OK

The following might assist you.

After the partial failure of our dishwasher (DW) (Tricity Bendix BK280), where the dishwater was not draining, I decided to try and understand its operation and attempt a repair, if say, a blockage, or simple component repair/replacement could be performed, before accepting that I really need to fork out £500 for a new machine.

I contacted Electrolux (Tricity Bendix) who refused to offer to supply me with servicing information, “due to safety reasons”. So ironically I proceeded to take apart the DW without any guidance at all!

I made the following observations:-

The timer controller, is mechanical, using a motorised cam operating 4 changeover switches. I carefully took apart/ reassembled the timer controller, finding no obvious problems, i.e. burnt out contacts. Using a Digital Multimeter, all contact resistances seemed OK.

Whilst giving the inside of the dishwasher a thorough clean, including taking apart and washing each internal washing compartment part, I could not find any obvious blockages. I did not attempt to clean any other pipework nor devices outside the washer compartment, other than the waste pump, and the waste pipe was clear. I applied power to the waste pump, which worked OK.

Now that I discovered that the waste pump seemed OK, I then tried to perform further washes.

I observed carefully the DW operation under its programmes 2 “Normal No Prewash” and 3 “Quick Wash”, by the following methods:-

1. Listening to the machine: waste pump operation (waste pump hum and drainage gurgling), water inlet valve operation (flowing filling water), wash operation (wash pump hum and water sprinkling from the turning arms).

2. Watching the timer control knob turn and listened to its cam motor. In particular I noted that the control knob would turn at 1 minute intervals, but would stop for about 18 minutes when the heater element was turned on. I assume it restarts when, presumably a thermostat operated at the required temperature of 65C.

3. Fitting a mains power meter to monitor electrical current. I noted: 1A for main wash pump, 0.22A Drain Pump, 12A Heater, ~0.01A cam motor, ~0.03A Fill Valve.

During these observations I then noticed that the water inlet valve would not operate after the hot dishwater waste was drained. I manually interrupted the DW and filled it with cold water by hand (err... jug). I then allowed the DW to continue its operation, but during the next cold rinse cycle, the water inlet valve operated correctly. This seemed to indicate that the water inlet valve was “sticking” under high temperatures.

So I was able to understand batter the DW basic operation, recording also that programme 2 used 1.75Kwh of electricity (1 hot wash 2 cold rinses and 1 hot rinse), programme 3 used 0.91Kwh of electricity (1 hot wash 2 cold rinses).

I was planning to further disassemble the DW, but my wife was desperate to get the growing mountain of dirty cutlery/crockery shifted. So then whilst getting ready to interrupt the half working DW for a 3rd time (lucky?), the water inlet valve operated correctly!

Could it be I started using a new detergent (Finish Powerball)?

The most likely problem I had was that we had poorly maintained our DW, and never performed the recommended “use of Finish Dishwasher Cleaner every 3 months, or run a wash programme without dishes using detergent” as stated in the User Manual.

Hi,This will not solve the problem but if you use the`eco wash `programme it will at least give you the use of your dishwasher.I`ll now go and try some of your tips and see if I can fix mine

Had the same problem with my tricity bendix cdw021. First thought it was a faulty timer unit, but before I ordered another I cleaned out the pipes under the 'dome' - currently 1/2 way through the cycle (a lot further than b4)- fingers crossed it makes it all the way!

Ed, December 2008
yes to all tricity bendix machine owners dont buy another one! we have given up and bought another brand!!!!

bazz, November 2008
yes we have a 109 that has similar problems the cycle starts and it stops ha;f way round and wont m/t the unit have you found a solution yet?

bazz, November 2008
I'd just about given up repairing my DH086 - continuity measured as expected, but it still kept stopping, seemingly when the heater should be switching on. I was convinced it'd be the element/timer. Cleaned everything under the dome - no change.

Turned the machine upside down and cleaned the "U" bendy pipe that's there - it was solid with limescale/fat buildup.

Got a puddle on the kitchen floor, but the machine is running again :)

Taking those fouled pipes out from under the dome and cleaning them, really works!
Thanks v much everyone!

I have a DH086 and recently tried to get it working again to no avail, until reading here. I took the advice and cleaned out the user cleanable parts and they were pretty muncked up, but it did the trick. Thanks guys.

Hi, i have a bendix bk280 and found it was sticking at various parts of the cycle, sometimes it would fill sometimes not, i found it would trip the main breaker and the heating element would be on with no water, the pressure switch did not seem to be switching....
if you take out all the plastic parts at the bottom of the machine and the screw holding the plastic dome cover , lift out the 2 blue plastic pipes and 1 black pipe and clean these it just might do the trick , it did for mine

Mike shaw, September 2005
hi-ive just had this problem fixed under my waranty-inside on the bottom-if you take out all the 'clean it yourself stuff'-on the right you will see a raised clear dome shaped part with a phillips screw in the top-open this-inside is a little tube that will be full of foody sludge-gross as it seems you need to blow this out-pop it all back togethr-and hey presto-thats all it was on mine-i couldnt belive it!!give it a go-good luck!!

stacey jane greenbank, June 2005
Hi. My dh086 is the same. It sticks just when the heating element should be working, as if it is waiting for something to tell it to work. I've tested both stats, checked the door switch, water pressure switch, put in a spare controller and new element. NOTHING!. If you've found something else, please let me know. Steve
