my Bosh steam iron trips the earth protection in my house when I plug it into the mains, I have checked the lead it appears ok, as the fuse is not blowing can you suggest what causes the problem and can I repair it, thanks.

If the lead is sound, then it sounds like the element is 'leaking', there's not much you can do about it yourself.
