Husqvarna YTH 150 rider mower - Kohler engine won't turn over?

With the switch "ON" and using jumper cables from the battery to the frame (grd) and to the starter (positive) it starts just fine.

could also be the stator. yes, stator, not starter. it stores energy to help turn over (from what I understand). it is the little pack on the top, side of fly wheel. should have 2 terminals to it. the pack it self is under the fly wheel and i just took mine in to get fixed. i don't know how to get to that one!

sounds like it might be a bad solenoid. $15 part. to get to it remove the battery and the battery tray. be sure to turn off the key. it is mounted on the wall of the frame (2 bolts). take off the 2 terminals (they just pull off) and un hook 2 nuts to remove the cable going to the starter and the black wire on the other side from the battery (more easily seen than i can describe it) before you take it out or off the mower you can test it with a meter to see if volts are going out, it should have power coming in (i believe 12 volts) and power going out to the starter. another option may be the safety switch under the seat, again you can test with a meter for continuity . good luck!
