how can i fix my 1.1 206 peugot?

petrol engine 1999 carb.type.,engine racing at idle.Suspect butterfly valve.Can anyone help please.

The butterfly or idle speed control valve is probably coated with carbon which prevents the plunger closing properly. Carefully remove the valve from the throttle housing and clean the plunger using an aerosol carburettor cleaner or similar product. After reassembly you will probably have to start and stop the engine a few times to allow the engine management system to reset the idle speed to normal.
