Fisher & Paykel 918td U1 error?

I have a F&P 918td dishwasher that has recently been giving me the U1 error every time I try to run it. It only started this when I found a spoon lodged behind the jet thingie on the bottom (which I removed), but nothing resolves this.

If I turn it off and try to run it again, it fills too far and sets off the F1 error, which drives everyone in the house nuts.

I've searched and searched all over these forums and in Google and I can't find anywhere that can tell me how (and where) to fix the fill valve, or at least what to do other than "check things". My problem seems to have started with the spoon, and now it won't resolve itself.

Please help!

Thanks.

i had a f1 flood error, that was caused by my waste hose. inside the waste hose( grey) i found a small white non-return valve, located inside the unit behind the inspection plate. the valve is made of rubber which perished, causing the kitchen sink water to drain back into the dishwasher setting off the flood error. wife thinks im the best thing in the world, cost me $10 for part. not $800 for new washer...yeah

SS, thanks for the reply.
1)Yep, the wash pump starts (I think). It'll run for a few minutes (~11) into the cycle before it does this.
2)Nope, the drain hose is draining fine, though I can't think of why it would have any obstructions, I'll clean it out just to be sure.
3)The labyrinth is all set and I even checked for David Bowie. No dramas there.

Aside from the drain hose, is the wash pump something that would run later and may be shot? Because the machine will run for a bit, filling appropriately I'm guessing, and then it craps out.

Thanks for all your help, I'm sure happy that I can get answers here instead of dropping enough money for a new machine on a repair guy.

The U1 fault means the machine has twice tried to fill with the appropriate amount of water and on each try the correct level was not detected by the fill system. This can be due to several things. Is the wash pump starting? Is the drain pipe blocked? Is the labyrinth plate in place (that's the big round stainless gauze plate at the bottom. Check all those out first.
