how can I FIX BREAK LIGHTS?

HI MY NAME IS TOMAS I WENT FOR MOT WITH MY RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC 1.6e -1997 AND MY BREAK LIGHTS DON'T WORK AT ALL, BUT 2 DAYS AGO THEY WORKED PERFECTLY.IT'S THERE ANY POSSIBILITY THAT THEY'VE DONE SOMETHING JUST TO GET SOME MONEY OF ME?CAN I FIX IT ON ME OWN.

1. Check the appropriate fuse.
2. Check the bulbs.
3. Look under dash and check that the wiring is connected to the brake light switch which is located at the top of the brake pedal.

On most cars the brake lights voltage goes thur the turn signals the grease inside gets dried out and stops the contacts from touching. You have to remove the4 turn signal assemble and clean with contact cleaner and lub.This is usually a 10 to 15 year old car.
