Harley 1200 dies?

I have a 2001 1200 Sportster that backfires and dies after it gets riden for about 30 miles. It starts again after its cooled down. Was told rear piston was seizing, is this correct?

nothing to do with pistons , this is down to the oil lines blocked/clogged , iternal/external etc
