How do I check the level and add oil to my 98 renault megan auto transmissi?

The car feels like it is struggling to move, I am sure it needs automatic transmission oil, but I cannot find how to check it, or how much too add to it. The owners manual says go to a dealer. But the dealer wants £80 + the oil. I thin kthat price is very excessive.

The transmission oil level dipstick can usually be found under the bonnet and they tend to have an orange or yellow handle. If you can locate it check the fluid with the vehicle on level ground, engine off, transmission in Park. Extra transmission fluid is normally added via the dipstick tube. If you're in the UK you could go to your local Halfords centre, they are usually happy to help and can supply the correct transmission fluid.
