hiya there
my piaggio zip 51 plate starts up on the button, however when you try to rev the bike it ill rev up but judder through the revs, as though the engine is maxin out then droppin revs and maxin out again, it will gather speed but the engine will continue juddering as it does so.
i've taken the carb off cleaned the jets, all the surrounding areas, all inlets, changed the rollers, varitaor, i've even changed the spark plug twice, i also took off the carb and sprayed carb cleaner directly into the engine , the engine started but was still juddering, there is no loss of power or any cutting out, could anyone help

Hi I got a zip an it won't start tried put petrol in the cylinder an it still won't start it kind of start but dies again got an new spark plug an sparks blue what next

i have a 2001 piaggio zip 125cc. when im driving it judderz and will cut out when i try and accelerate, it seems like the engine is flooding. i havent modified it at all. the bike has a new correct model spark plug and air filter ive also cleaned the carb. also the varitor and i belive the clutch were replaced about 1500 miles ago. has been working fine then suddenly these issues. not a big fan of walking my bike home any advice would be great

hi there i have a piaggio zip 05 it starts but after about 5 mins it cuts out i have changed the jet as it has a 70 kit on it but still cuts out dose any1 no y ???

hi i have tried everything changed fuel tap changed cdi changed oil seal changed carb restricted airflow and put airflow up only things i havenyt tried are rollers and clutch shoes any helpppppppppp !?!?!?!?!

Piaggio Zip 50 4t will start on and off, will idle fine but will not rev at times then other times it will not rev as high as it should.

hi there i also have a piaggio zip sp which is derestricted, but i cant give full throttle because the revs drop right down. my local mechanic said it might be because the carb needs cleaning but im not sure. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks, Dan.

hi you should try and change your variator rollers as they may be very worn, i had the same problem, hope this helps :)

Why does no one ever mention tuning? most of these problems are likely caused by the carb not being tuned correctly for whatever reason. and the delay from standstill is DEFINITELY tuning - too lean, richen it up.

Annoyed me quite a lot its derestricted 2 stroke was doing around 40mph on half throttle, usually does 50-55mph on full throttle, gradually went up to max but then it chokes itself :/ Now up my road Im working the centrifugal clutch like hell doing 10mph, downhill I can still get to fourty on half throttle, but whenever I take it to full throttle it sounds like a stalling car. When I release the throttle the engine is still running and I can go on half throttle but this is a major problem! Please help! Thank you, Josh

i have a piaggio zip 50 and am having problems with the drive. Scenario: Riding along at whatever speed and slow down (quickly or slowly) to a stop at traffic lights (for example). When pulling away the engine doesn’t rev and i have very little or no drive. This lasts for 3-5 seconds and then the engine sound changes and the scooter drives away as normal. When it gets going all is fine until i stop again and try to pull away. Uphill is worse than flat. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

if your zip is trying to cut out after half throttle then take your air box cover of and stick the air filter it the inside of the outter cover with a bit of tape. :) worked for me mine is 02 2stroke runs like a dream now

If the zip 50 dies after about half throttle and you have tried all the usual things such as cleaning the carb etc, then take off the air cleaner and start the engine. Increase the revs to the point when the engine dies and spray easy start or petrolium spray direct into the carb intake. If the engine responds, the fault is a lack of crankcase compression and the cure is to change the crankshaft oil seals. It sounds an odd cure but, it relates to how a two stroke works. I hold my hands up. I did not solve this myself, I was told by a Piaggio technician either way it works and is relatively cheap to repair. Good luck

could be the clutch drum (the one next to variator) , strip it & check the shoes
