My Flymo Quicksilver Petrol 46S won't start?

I bought the above about 18 months ago and have not had any problems until now. It has petrol and oil in it and the spark plug is attached. The cord is not tangled up but the mower will not start up. Any ideas please??

I have white smoke coming out of my engine! Does it mean I need more oil or has it got to much?

maybe the petrol has gone stale?

I'm assuming that the engine actually turns when you pull the cord. If that's the case then try removing the spark plug and cleaning it.
