I take it your curtains have curtain tape at top?If the strings have been cut or are too knotted up; remove all the strings, and use a fine cotton twine.Sew into tape at one end, and with a threading needle or safety pin,thread twine through curtasin tape slots.When all that is done-pull up string to required half width of window, and then do other curtain.
