where is the egr valve located?

where is the ehr valve located on my vauxhall astra 1.6 p reg an can it be cleaned

The valve is located at the end of the cylinder head near the exhaust manifold. It will have sooty carbon deposits on it. You could try soaking it with carburettor cleaner to remove the soot. Take care as these valves get very hot.
