Ariston boiler error A01 - Safety cut off?

I have a Microgenus HE28 boiler that keeps shutting itself down with an error code A01 sometihng about a safety flame cut off after 7 seconds.
The boiler does work prior to this shutdown with both hot water and heating available, however after approx 1 minute of hot water it will shut itself down and give the A01 error message. When resetting it works fine for another minute before the same happens.

Had plumber round who said it might be the PBC board and it would cost 300 pounds plus half a days labour charge to fix. Around 600 in all
is this right?

Hi, had similar problem (mine is a microgenus HE 24 MFFI). It did ignite, had flame as well but electrodes kept sparking (you can check this through the little inspection glass) and boiler would switch off after 7 seconds or so and show error A01. Re-setting would help for a few days but needed to do it more and more often untill it would switch back in error mode almost immediately. Asked around (have family working in the boiler installation business) and was advised to check the electrodes/electrode cabling. After having visually checked that the electrodes/cables etc were ok, ordered a new PCB and replaced it (took me 15-20 minutes max but make sure you use the correct eepprom key as I mixed them up initially, it is fairly easy and I hadn't done it before on this boiler) and works like a dream again. You can get PCB's from £85 upwards (ebay or boiler spare companies but shop around for good deals), there is also a company that recycles them and takes your old PCB and provides you with a reconditioned one for £45 or so with a one year guarantee. Take a note of the correct product code before ordering however. Good luck

A01 is ignition failure. If the boiler lights then goes out after several seconds then the flame is not been recognised by the pcb.It is unlikely to be the pcb more likely something else with the flame rectification process. Even if is is the board they do not cost anywhere near £300 nor do they take half a day to fit. Use somebody else.
