break drum wear?

hi, i have noticed a deep ridge on the inner friction area of my break drums, is this normal or is it from heavy wear on the drum. it is the same width as the shoes and appears to be uniform right the way round. any help would be appreciated.

thanks dann, will this ridge cause problems when putting the drum back on? thanks again.

How deep? and what mileage has the car done? Have the brakes been sticking on?

You can't avoid wear of the brake drums over time and providing the brakes are operating well I shouldn't be too concerned. The important thing is that the brake linings are not allowed to wear away down to the metal which causes major damage to the drums.
