How to fix recliner mechanism?

I have a leather recliner made by Italia. It is only 2 years old. When we pull the little metal lever for the feet to come out nothing happens. This happened once before and it cost me over $150 to repair. Seemed like a simple fix for the repairman so I'm hoping someone can help me with instructions to do it myself. He replaced a part. It is a swivel recliner. The swivel still works but the chair won't recline. I love this chair and don't want to replace it with another! Thanks in advance!

Old question but this repair might help someone. The problem is probably a broken cable. The origional cable will probably be unobtainable. Try a bike gear cable inner with a plain nipple. If you tip the chair up and thread this from the actuating arm inside the chair through the old cable outer you should end up with the unterminated cable end at the handle. Depending on the handle design you may be able to finish off with a "solderless nipple" or solderless barrel nipple" - you should be able to find a supplier on-line. Good luck
