How can i fix my Vauxhall corsa N Reg, 1.4 GLS automatic?

The car was purchased with a flashing "S" symbol on the dash display which we were told was a snow mode that is on when the car is cold. Apparantly this is wrong and the car shouldn't be drove in the drive gear but instead by using the manual 1,2 and 3 gears. The car came to a halt whilst i was driving it and would not re start or turn over. It was totally dead. What could the problem be? Is it major?

hello!i seem to be having the same problem with mine,i was told by a vauxhall garage that it could be,that i have used a car lighter that is not ment to be for a vauxhall, and that it might have blown a fuse.but the car seems to drag when im taking off,the sports light is still flashing.shall i drive it in 1-2-3,instead of D ,could you tell me how i would disable the sports button would be very greatful lif you could get back to me...many thanks maria

I had problems with my sports mode. The shining yellow "S" on the dash. I found that my corsa was stuck in this mode, and doesn't perform well when used in drive. I took it to the garage, where they disbaled the function. He told me to stop using the function (by the button on the gear stick), unless i was driving hard on motorways etc.Since it has been disabled, i have had no problems with using drive or manual gears. I have also had to car no turn over for me before. I found by switching the gear from Park to Neutral, and back again. Once i did this, the car started up like normal. I suspect by this time though, you'd have fixed it or given up!
