Its likely to be a fake drive with a much lower true capacity than stated.
There are a lot of these fakes being sold on Ebay, and if it is branded vaio it definatly is a fake with a true capacity of only 512mb because sony only use the vaio logo on products with a display such as laptops monitors and televisions.
