Epson Stylus DX4850 won't print after leakage?

Hi, Hope you can help. Last week I decided to do a collage of all my pictures. I managed to colour copy loads of old photos, replaced the ink cartridges, copied some more, printed lots that I had saved on the PC, then wham....I got a full page of ink, which ran everywhere. I tried printing again, same result. One cartridge was almost completely empty within minutes. I then tried printing text but in different colours. Nothing printed. The printer sounds like it is working, but prints nothing but blank pages. I've now bought more ink, done numerous and countless head cleans etc, replaced every ink cartridge and it prints absolutely nothing! What can I do next? I'm not technical, I've had the printer for about 18 months and am gutted that such an expensive item for a home computer has packed up. What can I do next?

Thanks

Pam

Have you tried the reset programs.
Some issued by Epson.
After a set amount of print cartridges have been used the printer stops printing so you send it back for repair.
Epson use a reset program and send it back.
Also there is a piece of sponge under the printer head bed.
When this gets full of spilt or excess ink the printer stops printing. needs replaicing or cleaning and again resetting.

Many of this type of machine have a small circuit component underneath the printhead which blows if ink leaks or spills on to it. I have heard of one technician who can repair them but it is usually cheaper to replace the printer. I would guess that at least one of you cartridges had a faulty outlet port valve or was a compatable cartridge without a valve at all. Genuine or properly refilled genuine cartridges usually don't cause that problem.
