It could be the water solinoid valve which is an electrically operated tap. They used to be just inside the machine where you screw the hose on. It needs voltage to make it operate but if your not sure about checking that you could just try substituting it for a good one.
There used to be a gauze filter on the inlet which may have become blocked; worth checking.
