my flymo quicksilver 46s engine speed needs to adjusting (running too slow)?

The engine starts & runs fine but seems to be running too slowly, There's a leaver on the carb which has 2 springs attatched when this is pushed it makes the engine run a little faster but still too slowly, If you push the little arm which these springs attatch to the engine speed increases greatly but returnes to running too slowly when it's released

my flymo quicksilver hit a rough patch of grass and no longer self propells

yes

my quicksilver won't slow. seems some of the springs are missing. it runs but high revs. can someone point me in the direction of parts list or a diagram showing the spring configuration so i can sort it out.

cheers

Instead of bending the plate that the spring is attached to, you can shorten the length of the spring slightly by removing it and putting a sharp bend in to where you want the spring to stop. This way if it goes wrong you only need a new sring (about £0.20)

1. start the engine
2. GENTLY pull on the spring until the desired engine speed is reached.
3. Mark the point on the spring that where you would want it to stop against the plate (to maintain your new speed).
4. Carefully unhook the spring and make a new hook with a set of needle nose pliers at the mark you made earlier (make the new bend / hook toward the old one, not toward the coiled spring section).
5. Reattach thee spring
6. Start your engine and (hopefully) smile at it's new found speed!

P.S don't adjust the engine speed up too high or you may cause it to die a smokey death!!

One of the springs attaches to a metal plate which can be gently bent to increase the spring tension, and therefore should increase the engine speed, but certainly it should not be bent excessively or too often, or that plate will break. The springs adjust with the air flowing across the top of of the engine flywheel via the curved plastic plate adjacent to it, take off the starter mechanism to look at it. It may simply be a matter of obtaining new springs, or cleaning the area of crap oil and dust..

Clean the air filter, often blocks with dust and compromises performance.

Where do I put my disclaimer ?? I am a bush mechanic, know nothing really.

Hmmm... I've got one of these, and so has my brother in law.

We both think the engine isnt running quickly enough either. Both of us think they dont suck up the grass (and leaves) as well as other mowers we have had.

I'll definitely take look at mine this week and see if theres an easy mod I can share with you..

No quite an answer - sorry..
