How do I remove the chuck from my Makita drill?

I have removed the center retaining screw, put an allen wrench in the jaws and whacked it with a hammer, but nothing. The chuck is still on. This is a Makita 12V electric drill, and I am trying to open the case to see why it's not working. And you have to remove the chuck to open the case.

insure the drill is in setting 1 (slow speed ) and the torque setting is at it's highest number or if it has it set to drill also some drills ie makita 844d need to be secured in a vice using soft jaws or similer to prevent from damaging the drill body and using a hammer use a quick but hard swing against the allenkey 1/2/or 3 blows like this will remove the chuck

Try putting the chuck key in and hitting it anti clockwise (looking from the front) with a hammer.

I don't know your particular drill but that works with most.

Good luck.
