How can I fix my dishwasher, Maytag,MDB7100awb?

My Maytag dishwasher, mdb7100awb stopped working suddenly. Purchased in 2000 so it's 7 years old.
The front control panel displays lights when I select a particular function (ie: LIGHT WAS, NORMAL WASH, HEAVY WASH), but nothing happens.
There is one function that seems to work and that is RINSE.
After pressing RINSE, the unit fills with water. Then I select DRAIN to get rid of the water and nothing happens, although I can hear a relay trying to engage (click-click). I did manage getting the RINSE function to work once by trying again and again. But then the very next time I try, it fails again.

I just got done repairing mine with the same problem. I was told by maytag that I was not covered by their recall even though the symptoms are similiar. I found a loose circuit in the control board where the wiring harness rubs against. The large blue relay (top in photo) was loose and causing a click in the far right relay(of photo). I could wiggle the blue relay and see sparks where it had come loose. A spot of new solder did the job with 0$ invested (1 hours work) Refer to this site for a detailed photo of the circuit board.http://www.partstap.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47116. Best of luck

your main board is covered under a service warranty. Call Maytag and they will send you a big box of replacement parts and give you a listing of servicers in your area to call when you get the box of parts. I'm in the middle of doing mine now
