how do I access power cable on a Dyson DC04?

My Dyson DC04 keeps cutting out. There seems to be a loose connection in the power cable where it is attached to the machine but I can't get at it to check. Does anyone know how to do this?

Go down with screwdriver about 18mm then turn screwdriver 90 degrees ... this should have the effect of "pushing back in" the notch bit on the yellow plasdtic button ... this would then seemingly "jam in position" the yellow button, but now "coerce" the yellow button upwards until it is out (perhaps with one or two more small flat screwdrivers popping in about 2 mm to wresstle switch out) ... from here you will see a screw - mine was a star shaped head but i used a small flat screwdriver on this which worked fine. Then lift out by pushing up on power cord ... hope this helps ...

How far down does the screwdriver need to be inserted? Is there some kind of catch that needs to be touched or pressed? We are having great difficulty and the patience is ebbing away! lol

Hi Colin
You have to take the main switch out to get to cable. To do this if you look at switch nearest to handle you will see a small gap in switch cover. Insert a very small screwdriver into this gap and press in and down carefully lift the switch cover off and you will see a phillips screw underneath remove this screw and the switch assy will lift out exposing the cable.

Hope this helps
