Desperately Need Help To SAVE SD Card!!!?

After going on a trip to see my family, I was viewing the photos and videos from my SD Card on my my computer just fine. After sticking the card back into the camera to take another picture, I put the sd card back into my computer.

Now it won't read. It keeps telling me to "Format the Card". I don't want to do that because it will erase everything. Is there any solution to safely format or open the card on my computer without everything being erased? Those photos and videos are so precious and cannot be replaced.

Please help--I am so beside myself and almost devastated by this!!

Thank you.

Hi Kirsten, I had this same problem. I resigned myself to formatting the card so at least I would have a working card if not any pics. Someone then suggested that I use one of the free file recovery softwares that are available, tried it and it undeleted all my pics and videos. I must admit tho, it is a bit risky.

Does anyone have step-by-step instructions to use Testdisk & Photorec? It looks a bit confusing.

I used to be able to. Can't do that now either. The card shows the memory being used but I can't open anything.

can you view the contents of the card on the camera? If so connect the camera to the computer and download the pictures.
